That's How We Roll
Brian Toval and The Vision featuring Jo Ann Toval
“That’s How We Roll” is a celebration of New Orleans culture — the food, the music, the dance, the second line spirit — all filtered through the lived experience of two people who built full careers serving others before stepping into the spotlight together. Before retirement, Brian Toval spent decades as a medical technologist, analyst, and project manager, bringing precision, care, and steady leadership to every environment he touched. Jo Ann Toval, with a Master’s in Nursing, built her career as a nurse informaticist, blending clinical wisdom with technology to improve patient care and empower healthcare teams. Their work lives were rooted in compassion, problem solving, and community — values that still shape everything they do. When they retired, they didn’t slow down. They simply shifted into a new rhythm. In August 2024, Brian and Jo Ann began performing together as a married musical duo. What had always been a private joy — harmonizing in the kitchen, dancing through the house, sharing the soundtrack of their lives — blossomed into a public expression of love, culture, and connection. Their chemistry, already deep from years of partnership, translated effortlessly into their performances. “That’s How We Roll” captures the essence of that journey. It’s a song steeped in New Orleans flavor — the joy of a good meal, the sway of a second line, the pulse of the street, the way music and dance weave through everyday life. It’s the sound of two people who know where they come from, who carry their city’s rhythm in their bones, and who move through the world with gratitude and groove. This release honors reinvention, partnership, and the beauty of beginning again — together. After long careers dedicated to helping others, Brian and Jo Ann now pour that same heart into their music, celebrating the culture that raised them and the love that carries them forward. Because at the end of the day… that’s how Brian and Jo Ann roll. We like to thank Wendell Russ for playing drums on the recording.
